AUSTIN — An Austin officer was shot during an exchange of gunfire Sunday morning, KXAN reported.
The officer confronted a burglary suspect in the parking lot of a restaurant when the suspect opened fire. The officer returned fire and killed the suspect.
The officer was described as a nine-year veteran of the force. He was taken to a hospital but his identity was not yet released.
Chief Art Acevedo told KUT the incident was captured on dash cam.
The officer was in stable condition, but “shaken up,” according to the chief.
