EDMONDS, Wash. — An Edmonds police officer wounded a man in a shootout early Thursday in a motel parking lot.
The Snohomish County sheriff’s office says the officer was on patrol when he noticed a suspicious man, stopped to talk with him and saw he had a gun on him. The sheriff’s office says when the man refused to obey the officer and pulled his gun the officer fired. There was a short chase in which the two fired at each other.
When the man was caught he had a wound to his upper arm. The Edmonds man in his 40s was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The officer was not injured. The 31-year-old is a 7-year veteran of the Edmonds department.
