SAN CARLOS, Calif. — Counselors are being provided for deputies after a suspect allegedly beheaded a woman out in the street with a sword Thursday.
According to ABC 7, the suspect, Jose Solano Landaeta, and the victim, a woman in her 20s with two young daughters, had previously been in a relationship. However, police said she had a temporary restraining order out on Landaeta.
Lendaeta came back to the scene while officers were still there, where he was then taken into custody.
“They arrived within minutes and found an obviously deceased female in the street in that area,” Lt. Eamon Allen said. “They began to work the scene and shortly thereafter, the male suspect arrived back at the scene and was quickly detained by sheriff’s deputies. He was later placed under arrest for homicide.”
The incident occurred outside the woman’s home and was viewed by shocked witnesses, who will receive the same counselor services as the responding deputies.
Police are still looking for the weapon used in the murder.
