CHICAGO — A former Woodridge cop who vanished in May after he was charged with stealing more than $30,000 earmarked for a police charity group has been arrested in Missouri.
Scott Webb, 39, was arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop in Branson.
Webb has agreed to return to Illinois and could be in court next week to face felony theft charges, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said.
Webb was indicted in May for pocketing at least $30,000 collected during fund-raisers in 2009 and 2010 for a group that aids the survivors of slain and deceased police officers.
The cash raised from pub crawls organized by Woodridge’s police union was supposed to go to the Concerns of Police Survivors group, authorities said.
Webb, a 10-year police veteran, resigned from the Woodridge department in March and was indicted two months later.
He was supposed to surrender to face the charges, but instead, he disappeared, authorities said.
If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison.
