CHARLESTON, S.C. — Charleston police have released the incident report in the fatal shootings of nine black parishioners at Emanuel AME Church.
The reports describe how officers arrived at the scene to find that victims had been shot. Dozens of photographs have also been released, showing the church exterior and rooms in the church, but not the crime scene itself.
The department did not release audio and video from the June 17 incident and said there is no transcript of the 911 calls.
A state judge earlier allowed the release of some documents, but blocked release of audio, video and pictures identifying victims.
Police said while the media and public have an interest in information about the case, those interests are not served by releasing gory videos and photographs.
