WEST PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An officer was assaulted by a man, then thrown over a guardrail down a steep embankment, WFMZ reported.
Sgt. Melissa Ruch stopped Wednesday evening to investigate a car stopped along the highway. When she approached the vehicle, a man rushed her, picked her up, and threw her over a guard rail.
Ruch was able to use her TASER on the man and called for backup, but the man escaped..
The officer was flown to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police told the publication they are looking for a Hispanic man, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4 weighing 240 to 260 pounds. He was possibly driving a dark-colored Nissan Maxima.
An investigation is ongoing.
