BRUCE COUNTY, Ontario — A young boy with special needs was found safe and sound last week after he wandered away from his Ontario home.
Video shared by the Ontario Provincial Police shows the search from the sky. A helicopter, using night vision technology, assisted officers on the ground as they combed the surrounding forest.
“My son, who is special needs, who is 6 years old, is missing,” the mother can be heard saying in the 911 call. “It will be dark before we know it.”
“What we’re seeing here is what appears to be a person in a prone position,” the pilot is heard saying.
The pilot then uses a laser to help guide officers on the ground to the child. Video shows the group of officers approaching the person.
“We’re bringing him out. He appears to be in good condition,” an officer says.
The child was found in good health, according to the agency.“Reuniting a missing child with their family is one of the highlights of an officer’s career,” the agency wrote in a Facebook post.
