For those of us that teach firearms we all know there are several techniques for using flashlights while shooting low light courses. One popular technique is the “chapman” in which the shooter holds the light in the support hand in an overhand fashion, and places the back of the support hand against the back of the weapon hand.
Lately, I’ve been seeing alot of shooters perform this incorrectly by keeping the support hand with light along the support side of the weapon placing the shooters knuckles along the slide. This causes cuts and tears to the hand of the shooter and usually requires attention from the range officer or line instructor. Reviewing the light techniques prior to shooting can help alleviate this problem. Everyone keep up the great work and stay safe!
