Times-Herald staff report
A suspected car thief who led Vallejo police on a chase Saturday morning was arrested after officers deployed their Taser stun guns, police said.
Norman Henson, 44, a parolee at-large, was arrested in the first block of Rotary Way after police chased him there and shocked him with the Taser, Lt. Jim O’Connell said. Henson was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading police and resisting arrest.
Henson alllegedly stole the Toyota Corolla in the Glen Cove area around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, O’Connell said. Around 20 minutes later, police spotted the vehicle near Admiral Callaghan Lane.
Officers Louie Lofas and Brenton Garrick pursued the vehicle for 10 minutes at a top speed of around 60 mph on surface streets, O’Connell said. The officers used the PIT maneuver, tapping the car so the driver loses control, and the suspect fled on foot.
After catching up with him, officers deployed the Taser to take him into custody, O’Connell said. The officers were not harmed, and the Corolla was not damaged.
