TULSA, Okla. – Dashcam footage has been released of a Dec. 15 pursuit that ended in an officer-involved shooting.
According to Tulsa World, police pursued four carjacking suspects after they fled from a traffic stop.
Three of the suspects bailed out of the vehicle. The video shows a police cruiser striking one of the suspects from behind. He was treated at the scene.
Officers continued to chase the driver. The pursuit ended when a police vehicle collided with the suspect’s car. One officer shot the driver as he exited the vehicle. The suspect was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the publication.
News on 6 reported that the suspects were firing at officers with BB guns.
All four suspects, ranging from age 14 to 26, were taken into custody.
During a news conference, Tulsa police spokeswoman Jeanne MacKenzie responded to questions about officers using a vehicle to take down a suspect.
“It’s part of use of force,” MacKenzie said. “It’s not one we use on a regular basis. But it is one we can use depending on the circumstances.”
