When set up on a perimeter, stakeout, tactical exercise, etc. in a position of concealment or cover, be wary of the light you may give off that will reveal your position. The “transmit” LED light on your portable radios is a very easy way to get spotted.
Many of us put a piece of black electical tape or duct tape over the light. Casio “G shock”, timex and and other wristwatches are backlit and are very bright in a totally dark environment as well.
