YOUNGSTOWN, Pa. — It must have been a bad day for a 52-year-old woman in Westmoreland County, Pa. And she just wanted her coffee.
As a result, Pa. state police tell WTAJ-TV the woman, identified as Sonja Connors, allegedly walked behind the counter at a Burger King in Youngwood, Pa., ignoring an employee and pouring herself a cup of coffee.
“Poured herself a cup of coffee, is confronted by one of the system managers telling her you can’t be back here, one, and two, you owe us for the coffee,” Trooper Steve Limani told WTAE in Pittsburgh.
Connors allegedly shoved that employee and walked out of the Burger King.
By the time troopers arrived on scene, the woman was next door at a BF’s store, where the confrontation with police occurred. All of it was captured on the store’s video surveillance.
Troopers arrived there to find Connors still holding the cup of coffee – which was hot in more ways than one.
After a short discussion with the troopers, Connors is seen on the video walking away from the troopers.
Moments later, the coffee cup is thrown, hitting one of the troopers, WTAJ reports, citing the surveillance video.
“Obviously, there could have been burns,” Limani told WTAE. “It could have happened to the police officer if it hit him in the eyes, things of that nature.”
Connors was taken into custody and now faces aggravated assault and other charges.
