WESTBURY, Minn. — A Becker County Deputy escaped unscathed in what could have been a deadly situation Wednesday, Valley News Live reported.

The officer was conducting a traffic stop on the side of the highway when an oncoming SUV started heading straight towards him and the stopped sedan.

The deputy was able to run to safety on the shoulder and even told the driver of the sedan to shut their door to avoid injury.

Both the driver and deputy escaped safely as the SUV raced past both of them, inches from the sedan.

Sheriff Todd. D. Glander said the incident is a reminder to drivers to be aware of speed in weather.
