GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — The Grand Prairie Police Department posted a video on Facebook showing a cruiser getting hit by a semi-truck that failed to stop at the red light in what could have been a fatal accident, CBS-DFW reports.
The officer walked away with minor injuries from the crash, despite the 18-wheeler plowing into the driver’s side of the cruiser in the June 19 incident.
“We never thought to have two back-to-back fleet accidents where the results could have been fatal for the officers; however, by a pure miracle (define that as you will) the officers in both instances walked away with minor injuries. We are very thankful this officer was not injured when a semi-truck failed to stop at a red-light,” GPPD said in a comment on their Facebook page.
The day before, the department posted a picture of a totalled cruiser that another officer walked away from unscathed. The cruiser was rear ended during a traffic stop.
