WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — New Jersey high school students have produced more than 26,000 face shields, which they donated to first responders and medical workers.
Warren Hills High School student Bobby Delghiaccio asked his teacher last month if he could take home a 3-D printer to help make face shields for frontline workers. Fox8 reports that teachers and students from two different high schools, as well as parents and local businesses, ended up coming together to raise money for, and produce, 26,550 face shields.
The face shields were donated to the New Jersey State Police on Saturday, Fox News reports. Some of the shields will be donated to hospitals statewide, while others will be given to state and local law enforcement officers.
“Their efforts were nothing short of an act of monumental humanitarianism,” New Jersey State Police wrote on Facebook. “This group of amazing volunteers is not finished. There are thousands more shields on the way!”
