PELHAM, Mass. — Police arrested a shirtless man wielding a knife less than a quarter mile from Pelham High around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the same time students and faculty were leaving school for the day.

According to police, Christopher Lanzillo, 34, was spotted outside 20 Burns Road wearing only pants and acting agitated with the knife in his hand.

Police say he was threatening family members who lived there.

A recording of the situation shows Lanzillo repeatedly screaming at authorities, asking “what are you going to do, shoot me?”

It was only after negotiations that Lanzillo eventually dropped to knees and surrendered the knife.

He was charged with felony criminal threatening, criminal mischief and simple assault. Bail had not been set as of 5 p.m.

While in custody at the Pelham Police Department, Lanzillo continued to make threats and was transported to Southern New Hampshire Hospital for evaluation.

The incident remains under investigation.
