My department has had two separate incidents where two officers were disarmed by violent offenders. The first incident, the offender lunged at the officer’s belly, hit his duty holster, and pulled his gun out. The second officer was involved in a fight with the offender, and the same MO was used to get the second gun out. Our department was using a level 2 retention holster, but has now switched to a level 3. Apparently, the gun grab is coming back.
