Some Departments will not allow you to alter equipment. However, if possible, paint the bright brass and chrome on your equipment black. This will help subdue the reflective items on your duty rig. I find that military emblem paint or a high quality enamel fingernail polish works well. Leather luster also will take to brass & chrome in small amounts. I do not paint the belt buckle (personal choice).
