Will your phone lead someone to your door?

Recently an officer’s personal vehicle was torched at his home in retaliation for tickets he had issued. In one news story about the incident, it was mentioned that a reporter left a message for the officer at a number that was publicly listed under his name in his town and presumed to be his home. Whether the number was in fact this officer’s or not, the incident serves as a powerful opportunity to be reminded of the importance of taking steps to ensure that your home phone number is not readily available to those who might be looking for you. Make sure that a quick call to directory assistance or an Internet search won’t lead someone to your front door.
