    Lee Shaykhet

    Lee Shaykhet was born in Moscow in 1955. He graduated from the Moscow University in 1977. Instead of joining the military, which would have never given him the opportunity to ever leave the CCCP, Lee chose to consult and teach from the University. Lee began perfecting and teaching his “move forward” methodology to Special Forces and Sniper units in the Soviet Army. In the height of the Cold War Lee risked everything to immigrate to the United States in 1979, via Vienna and Rome, eventually settling in the Metropolitan Detroit Area.

    Lee offers a unique approach to defensive tactics and has been involved in training military and police officers his entire career. To his credit he has instructed U.S. and International law enforcement agencies in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Florida and Canada. Lee also provides his approach to various consulting and security firms such as Kelly Services and Hardnox Security Group.Some of these organizations have recently provided armed and unarmed bodyguard services to events such as the 2005 MLB All-Star Game and the 2006 NFL Super Bowl; both hosted in Detroit, MI.

  • Leischen Stelter is the social media coordinator with the public safety team at American Military University. She writes about issues and trends relevant to professionals in law enforcement, fire services, emergency management and national security. Stelter is the former managing editor of Security Director News, an online business publication for physical security practitioners, where she spent four years writing articles, blogs and producing video segments on best practices in the private security industry.

  • M.K. Palmore is a FBI executive currently assigned as the leader of the FBI San Francisco Cyber Branch. He has over 25 years of experience in the field of leadership and prior to joining the FBI served as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. He has supervised a variety of violations in the FBI, including Counterterrorism, Civil Rights/Hate Crimes, Violent Crimes, Cyber Terrorism, Public Corruption, Organized Crime and Cyber Intrusions.   • Steve Ijames was an original member of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) board of directors, and the course developer/lead instructor for the NTOA and IACP less lethal “train the trainer” programs, addressing impact projectiles, chemical agents, and noise flash diversionary devices.     Margaret Stark
    Since joining ITT’s night vision team in 1998, CHIEF Grants in 2004, and most recently Xenonics Holdings, Margaret Stark has assisted more than 8,500 law enforcement agencies in obtaining grant-related information for applications and assistance of more than $100.5 million in funding. Whether working via face-to-face meetings, telephone conversations, or email correspondence, Margaret helps law enforcement agencies identify available grant monies, then provides step-by-step direction as to how agencies may secure the needed funding.   • Mark Schraer is the co-founder and Chief Firearms Instructor for Blackrock Firearms Training. Mark also serves as a Staff Instructor for the National Rifle Association’s Law Enforcement Division. In both roles, Mark has the privilege of working with exceptional trainers while teaching law enforcement, military and security instructors and personnel.

    Mark served for twenty-five years as a police officer and sergeant with the Fairfield (Calif.) Police Department. This included thirteen years as a member of the agency’s SWAT Team and almost twenty-years as a tactics and firearms instructor.

    Mark was the Lead Firearms Instructor for the last ten years of his career. In this role, Mark developed a firearms training program that was primarily designed to increase an officer’s ability to prevail in even the most challenging armed encounters. The program that Mark developed and spearheaded has become the model for a number of law enforcement agencies and well as a regional police academy program.

    Mark is now the co-owner and lead instructor at Blackrock Firearms Training.

  • Marty Drapkin is employed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, in which capacity he coordinates Wisconsin’s basic jail officer training program.
