Lee Shaykhet was born in Moscow in 1955. He graduated from the Moscow University in 1977. Instead of joining the military, which would have never given him the opportunity to ever leave the CCCP, Lee chose to consult and teach from the University. Lee began perfecting and teaching his “move forward” methodology to Special Forces and Sniper units in the Soviet Army. In the height of the Cold War Lee risked everything to immigrate to the United States in 1979, via Vienna and Rome, eventually settling in the Metropolitan Detroit Area.

Lee offers a unique approach to defensive tactics and has been involved in training military and police officers his entire career. To his credit he has instructed U.S. and International law enforcement agencies in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Florida and Canada. Lee also provides his approach to various consulting and security firms such as Kelly Services and Hardnox Security Group.Some of these organizations have recently provided armed and unarmed bodyguard services to events such as the 2005 MLB All-Star Game and the 2006 NFL Super Bowl; both hosted in Detroit, MI.

Captain Mike Boyle served 27 years with the New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife, Bureau of Law Enforcement. Mike was responsible for all aspects of pre-service and in-service training and also supervised the internal affairs section of his agency. Mike has also been an assistant police academy director and continues to participate in both recruit and instructor level training. He is a certified instructor in multiple uses of force disciplines including handgun, shotgun, rifle, SMG, impact weapons and unarmed self-defense.

Gary T. Klugiewicz is the director of ACMi® Systems, and a member of the Team One Network that in cooperation with the Northwest Wisconsin Technical College provides defensive tactics, firearms, and tactical training throughout the United States. He is retired from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department after 25 years of service where he was promoted to the rank of captain.

Gary has a background in Knockdown Karate where he won national championships and fought several times in Japan. He brought this high impact intensity to law enforcement training.

Gary’s name has become synonymous with the development of safe but realistic, intense, dynamic simulation training. As former Street Survival Seminar instructor and nationally known defensive tactics instructor, Gary has impacted literally 100,000’s of law enforcement officers.

His training is an officer survival program in action. Gary is the developer of the Active Countermeasures System of Unarmed Blocking and Striking Techniques that is the cornerstone of High Level Control Tactics. He has developed programs for police, corrections, mental health, security, and military personnel.

Gary’s team tactics training for SWAT, CERT, and Crowd Management Teams are among the best in the world. His instructor training programs stress adult learning, sub-skill development, guided discovery, decision making simulation scenarios, and positive group debriefing techniques.

Even more importantly, as a righteous police officer use-of-force defense expert, Gary has defended scores of officers in legal proceedings. Currently, he is the lead instructor for Verbal Judo’s Tactical Communication for the Correctional Professional training program.

Roy E. Alston, Ph.D., is a retired Major of Police and served 14 years with the Dallas Police Department in Dallas, Texas and one year with the Frisco Police Department in Frisco, Texas. In his last role with the Dallas Police Department, Roy was the night commander responsible for planning, resourcing and coordinating the efforts of the evening and overnight patrol officers in the Northwest and North Central patrol divisions of the city.

Roy is a 1989 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he earned a BS in leadership. He served in the US Army as a commissioned officer with the 82nd Airborne Division and served in combat with the 1st of the 319th Field Artillery Regiment during the first Gulf War. Roy is a graduate of the US Army’s Ranger School, Airborne School, Jungle School, Field Artillery Officer’s Basic Course, and the Field Artillery Officer’s Advance Course. Roy earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2003 and received his doctorate in management with a specialization in leadership and organizational change from Walden University in 2010. Dr. Alston is a graduate of The Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) and the Police Executive Research Forum’s (PERF) Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP).

Roy currently holds a leadership position as the vice president of security with CHRISTUS Health, where he is responsible for armed and unarmed security officers domestically and internationally. He is a co-founder of diversitypop which is a go-anywhere, app-based training program designed to help organizations grow diversity awareness and inclusion instincts in an individualized, easy and self-paced way. Dr. Alston is the author of the books The Leader’s Compass for Law Enforcement Professionals, RadioActive Leadership: How to Pursue Excellence and Positively Influence the Behavior of Others, Tarnished Honor: An Insider’s Look at Police Occupational Deviance.

Thane Gallagher is a senior law enforcement officer who has worked in various patrol assignments throughout his career, from this nation’s rugged back country locales, to pavement laden urban highways. In addition to his enforcement duties, he’s also a certified EMT and Field Training Officer. As an FTO, Gallagher (along with his partner) developed a more modern tactical approach and training model to teach newer personnel how to conduct highway interdiction operations. For three years, Gallagher was assigned as a Task Force Officer within a gang/narcotics unit. As a Task Force Officer and in addition to the usual investigative caseload, he was often consulted by other federal and local agencies for guidance and investigative support on a wide variety of immigration, identity theft, and document fraud issues. He’s currently assigned to highway narcotics interdiction, within a special operations group. Concurrent with this assignment, Gallagher also helps train officers from various local agencies to conduct this specialized operation, by combining the application of industry standard field tactics with the analysis of behavioral indicators in the motoring public.

Gallagher served four years on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard, while assigned to patrol various locales from the Bering Sea on one of the service’s largest high endurance cutters, to the Channel Islands off of Southern California on small patrol boats. Gallagher not only specialized in search and rescue operations, but he became a certified Maritime Law Enforcement Officer (Boarding Officer) early in his military career, which is where he first whet his appetite for enforcing the law. Gallagher participated in and/or led as the primary officer, hundreds of boardings throughout his Coast Guard career, making arrests for everything from boating under the influence, to narcotics smuggling on the high seas, to poaching and/or unauthorized fishing in protected waters, to felons in possession of firearms.
