LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A seven-hour standoff between a man who shot at police and barricaded himself inside a home ended early Thursday with no reports of any injury, authorities said.
Police used a battering ram and stormed the house shortly before 7 a.m. The gunman, who was not immediately identified, was arrested without incident, authorities said.
Police surrounded the house in the 300 block of West 98th Street after responding to an emergency call about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. The man opened fire on officers but no one was hit.
Attempts to reach the man were unsuccessful for several hours, police said. A SWAT team fired tear gas canisters inside the home but there was no response.
A nearby apartment complex was evacuated and the northbound lanes of the Harbor Freeway were closed between Century Boulevard and Manchester Avenue during the morning rush hour.
