PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Heavily armed police officers surrounded a home in Philadelphia where at least one suspect in an armored car heist was believed to be holed up Wednesday with a gun.

Investigators believed there were one or two men inside the house who been involved in the 2 p.m. robbery of guards who were transferring cash between an armored car and a convenience store in Abington Township, a Philadelphia suburb.

No one was seriously injured in the robbery, but the bandits may have made off with $150,000 or more in cash, plus a guard’s gun, police said.

Officers from several departments gave chase to a car carrying the suspects, who were believed to have made their way to a home in Philadelphia’s West Oak Lane section.

Members of Philadelphia’s SWAT team, carrying assault rifles and grenades, surrounded the home late Wednesday afternoon.

Television news crews on the scene reported that police negotiators appeared to be in contact with the men in the house.
