Cobourg, Ontario, Canada -- An 18-year-old man charged with murder in the weekend slaying of a Cobourg, Ont., police officer will stay in jail.
Troy Davey was remanded in custody Monday during a brief court appearance.
Mr. Davey was arrested Sunday at a Cobourg hospital where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.
He was later charged with first-degree murder in the weekend killing of Constable Chris Garrett.
Constable Garrett, 39, died early Saturday after responding to a 911 call that someone had been robbed.
Police say an explosive device was found yesterday during a search at Mr. Davey’s home.
They say Molotov cocktails were also found at the house.
Police will not comment on a Toronto newspaper report that they uncovered a plot to kill other officers.
And they will not say whether Constable Garrett was shot or stabbed until after an autopsy set for this week.
Davey’s next court appearance will be May 25.
