CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) -- A bullet struck the car of a Bradley County Sheriff’s Department officer who was working radar in the median of Interstate 75.
Sheriff’s department spokesman Bob Gault said no one was hurt.
Gault said the officer, who was accompanied by a police dog, was in the interstate median near the Hiwassee River bridge in north Bradley County when the shot was fired about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials said the bullet struck the windshield on the passenger side and passed through the dog cage into the rear seat.
Southbound lanes of I-75 were closed for several hours after the shot was fired as investigators tried to determine if the shot was fired from nearby woods or a passing vehicle.
Gault said a $10,000 reward was being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
