PROVIDENCE, R.I.—State medical officials have not yet determined why a correctional officer recruit died during routine physical tests over the weekend.

The 30-year-old Jackson was participating in a standard series of tests Saturday, including push-ups, sit-ups and a one-and-a-half mile run.
He complained to staff members after the run that he was feeling dizzy. Then he collapsed and became unresponsive.
