BWC: Suspect who tried to rob donut shop tased after pointing replica gun at LAPD officers

The suspect, who was wearing a woman’s sundress and sweater tied around his torso, can be seen approaching the shop counter with a weapon and knife in his bag

LOS ANGELES — In May, a man wearing a woman’s sundress and a sweater tied around his torso tried to rob a donut shop. Now, newly released surveillance and body-worn camera footage reveals the dramatic struggle inside the shop and the suspect’s attempted getaway on foot.

On May 28, around 3:20 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a call reporting a robbery at a local donut shop, ABC7.com reported. A suspect, later identified as Christopher Hall, 41, was reportedly armed with a gun and had assaulted a female employee.

In the surveillance video, Hall can be seen approaching the shop counter with a gun and knife in a bag. The video then shows Hall following two of the employees into the back of the shop, pointing the gun at them, while also hurling cinnamon rolls at them until they provide him with money. Employees can be seen pushing a cart into Hall and fighting back as he attempts to pick up cash thrown at him.

LAPD body camera footage shows officers attempting to locate Hall, who had fled on foot from the business after the struggle, to a nearby apartment complex, where they ordered him to drop his weapon. At one point, Hall points his gun at officers, which led one of the officers to open fire.

The gunfire missed Hall and he later tossed his gun before climbing a fence. Officers then deployed a TASER, allowing them to take Hall into custody.

Hall was charged with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The weapon, a black airsoft replica handgun, and a knife were recovered at the scene, according to police.
