HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The longest-serving employee in the history of the Pennsylvania State Police retired Friday after more than 50 years of service.
Robert J. Zinsky, 68, joined the agency as a clerk at a station in Lackawanna County on April 16, 1952. After receiving several promotions at that station, he transferred to the agency’s Harrisburg headquarters to become assistant to the department’s fiscal officer.
He was named director of the Bureau of Staff Services in 1978. In that job, he has been responsible for the agency’s fiscal, facility management, transportation and supply operations.
“Although he has worked at headquarters since 1963, Bob’s focus has always been on the troopers in the field and how he could make their job safer and more efficient,” State Police Commissioner Paul J. Evanko said. “Bob has taken a leading role in the revolutionary changes in the department in recent years, including the introduction of the latest technology to our crime-fighting efforts.”
