Missouri officers honored
for outstanding October efforts

(BERKELEY, Mo.) -- Commendations have been given to Berkeley police officers for outstanding efforts in the month of October.

Detectives Michael Neal and Ira Walker were commended for their efforts in interviewing uncooperative witnesses and tracking a suspect in a violent homicide to Shreveport, La. On Oct. 23 the officers interviewed the suspect in Shreveport and obtained a written confession.

Neal also was commended for his work in Berkeley’s first annual Safety Fair, which was in Jackson Park.

Patrolman Harlan Smith, a Drug Abuse Resistance Education instructor and coordinator of the Safety Fair, was recognized for his work with the fair.

Also recognized was Patrolman David Ingle, who in the pursuit of a stolen Frito Lay truck leaped through the driver’s window after the suspects had fled to stop the moving vehicle from crashing into a house.
