Off-duty Colorado deputy nabs duo

Police1 Staff Report
(DENVER) -- An alert off-duty deputy who had just left work at the Southglenn Mall spotted two men suspiciously running from the mall area last Saturday night and ended up helping to collar the pair for allegedly robbing a store manager at an ATM, police said.

Off-duty Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputy Vick Thiret apprehended the running men at their car at the same time that deputies had been dispatched to a robbery at an ATM near a bank branch close to the mall, police said.

An unidentified employee of the Trade Secret store in the mall was taking the day’s receipts to the ATM when she was doused with pepper spray by a man who took her bank bag containing approximately $1,000 in cash and checks, police said.

Joseph Roy Williams, 20, and Brian Wesley Joseph Ditsworth, 18, both face robbery and second-degree assault charges in connection with the incident. A third suspect is being sought, according to authorities.
