Sacramento, Calif. police are setting a trap for thieves this holiday shopping season.
Police demonstrated their new crime fighting tool Friday -- a bait car. It’s one of several that will be parked at Sacramento shopping malls this month to bait car thieves and get them off the street.
“As they are driving through the community, and once we have sufficient officers to make an arrest, we request that the doors be locked. And we can request that the ignition be disabled. At that point, the suspects are encased in this little cell,” said Detective Ben Gomez.
