Police1 Staff Report
(LOS ANGELES) -- An unnamed East Los Angeles resident got a surprise when his stolen car was returned 10 days later with a bonus, the body of someone he did not know in the trunk.
The body of a 22-year-old man who had been shot several times was discovered by the auto owner after the drove the vehicle home, according to the Los Angles Times.
Maywood Police, who recovered the vehicle, did not check the trunk because the car was locked and they did not have a trunk release.
“It was a 1985 or 1986 Buick,” Maywood Police Sgt. Dennis Azevedo told the newspaper. “They don’t have a trunk release. The only way we could get into there would have been to break the lock, and we don’t like to damage a car.”
Azevedo added that cold weather may have contributed. “There was no smell coming from the trunk,” he told the Los Angeles Times.
