Va. Police Officer Dies in Kuwait

Chesterfield, Va. -- A 32-year-old Chesterfield County, Va. police officer has died while serving as a military reservist in the Middle East.

Michael Jason Gray, a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves, was killed during a vehicle crash near his base in Kuwait, county officials were informed early yesterday.

Gray graduated from Manchester High School and Virginia Commonwealth University.

He has been a Chesterfield police officer since 2001 and had previously worked in law enforcement in Richmond and Henrico County. Co-workers called him a very competent officer who looked after younger colleagues.

He leaves behind a wife and four children.
