(MEDFIELD, Mass.) - A woman charged with striking and killing a police officer as he directed traffic has lost her Florida driver’s license.
Rita Garland reportedly obtained the Florida license in November, two months after Daniel McCarthy’s death and two weeks before Massachusetts revoked her license. Garland is free on bail and is allowed to live out of state, although she must keep in touch with her probation officer.
Florida, like other states, refuses to license drivers whose operating privileges have been revoked or suspended elsewhere.
Daniel McCarthy, 38, was guiding traffic around a construction site when he was struck on Sept. 21.
