TORONTO (CP) -- He was all jacked up with no place to go.
A man was in police custody Saturday after a car collapsed on a would-be thief trying to steal its tires, pinning him to the ground until firefighters could pry him free.
Police were called to a parking lot Friday night and found the man trapped beneath a car. A second man fled the scene.
“It was a pretty simple situation for us,” said Staff Sgt. Paul Martin.
“He was stealing the tires and the wheels and he hadn’t had much experience at it.”
The man, who was unharmed, neglected to properly set the jack he was using before reaching for a wheel.
His arm became pinned to the car’s inner fender.
“Criminals aren’t the brightest people in the world,” Martin said.
Suresh Basdeo, 18, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime. (Toronto Sun)
