An old dispute between a guard and a former inmate in the Westmoreland County Prison erupted into a bar fight last month, police say.

As a result, state police at Greensburg have filed harassment and terroristic threats charges against the former inmate, Louis E. Bevilacqua, 31, of Manor.

The corrections officer, Craig Stewart, is not charged.

Police say Bevilacqua started a fight with Stewart at Junior’s Bar in Penn on Feb. 17 at 11:30 p.m. A court summons was mailed to Bevilacqua yesterday by Jeannette Magisterial District Judge Joseph DeMarchis. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 27.

Police did not specify the situation, but a report stated the fight “stemmed from a situation in the jail six years ago.” Bevilacqua’s arrest affidavit states he pushed Stewart saying that Stewart would pay for what he did to Bevilacqua’s brother. Stewart then punched Bevilacqua and the two men were separated and ousted from the bar, the affidavit states.

Police say Bevilacqua told the bar’s owner that he was planning to kill Stewart when he walked outside.
