SAN DIEGO--The investigation into the bombing of the San Diego federal courthouse has led to the arrest of a woman accused of using false identification in an attempt to obtain explosives, prosecutors said Friday.
The U.S. attorney’s office said, however, that no one has yet been charged with the May 4 bombing, which damaged a door and window of the downtown courthouse but caused no injuries.
Rachelle Lynette Carlock, 31, was arraigned in federal court Friday in El Centro on an eight-count complaint charging the use of false identification to obtain explosive materials, being a felon in possession of explosive materials and fraud, a prosecution statement said.
U.S. Attorney Karen Hewitt said Carlock was arrested Thursday afternoon by the San Diego FBI SWAT team.
FBI spokesman Darrell Foxworth and Debra Hartman, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office, declined to elaborate on how the bombing investigation led to the arrest. Neither could immediately provide the name of a defense attorney.
“The courthouse bombing investigation is ongoing. At this time it would not be appropriate to go into details beyond what is set forward in the complaint,” Foxworth said. He urged members of the public to come forward if they had information about the bombing.
