BALTIMORE, Md. — Almost 100 officers have been hurt in Baltimore due to the ongoing riots in the city.

People protesting the in-custody death of Freddie Gray have reportedly been throwing rocks, bricks, glass bottles, and other objects at officers .

Capt. Eric Kowalczyk told NBC Washington Thursday afternoon that of those hurt, more than 40 officers required some sort of treatment at the hospital.

13 officers have been placed on medical leave as a result of suffering serious injury, according to the Los Angeles Times, and another 15 are on light duty.

He said 201 people were arrested during the riots and 106 of them were subsequently released because specific charges couldn’t be filed within the 48-hour holding period.

Once surveillance footage can be reviewed and identities can be confirmed, Kowalczyk said he expects many of those people will be charged.

The results of the police investigation were sent to State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby Thursday. Mosby will decide whether or not to bring charges against any of the six officers who were involved in arresting and transporting Gray on April 12.
