NAPLES, Fla. — One police officer is dead and another is wounded after a domestic dispute escalated early Wednesday.
The News-Press reports 40-year-old Officer Amy E. Young and 37-year-old Officer Luis Monroig were shot during a dispute when at least one of them opened fire at the residence they shared.
Monroig died from his injuries. Young is currently being treated at a hospital.
“Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families. The department is devastated and we’re doing whatever we can to move forward and support the families involved,” Naples Police Chief Tom Weschler told the Naples Daily News.
Police are investigating the shooting. No further details were immediately available.
