WHITE PLAINS — A 43-year-old city police officer known for working out religiously died of a heart attack Saturday after a foot chase with a larceny suspect in downtown White Plains.
Michael Perry, a 7 1/2-year veteran of the White Plains police, began suffering from chest pains and was rushed to White Plains Hospital Center after chasing down suspect Ricky Pryor, who was spotted and apprehended at 4:41 p.m. on Court and Main streets by Perry and another officer. Though appearing to be in model shape, Perry had a history of hypertension, likely a major cause of the heart attack, according to the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s office.
Police Chief James Bradley said today that the department would start an investigation into the incident “to make sure we have all the information” into what happened.
