PHOENIX — A Phoenix police sergeant was shot and killed near the state capitol building last night.
The body of 12-year veteran Sean Drenth was found in a remote lot near a set of railroad tracks. Police had tried to locate him several times through his radio and his cell phone before they initiated a search. They first found his abandoned cruiser, and then they found his body nearby.
There are no suspects at the moment, but it’s possible they were caught on nearby surveillance cameras.
“They’re difficult times,” Sgt. Terent Crump told KNXV. “Everybody that’s working this will try to put aside those feelings, investigate this and do the job we do out here. We have a lot of officers and a great support group. That support group has responded this morning.”
