A good flashlight can save your life

A standard issue flashlight is an effective tool for searching poorly lit areas and even functions as a baton if required. The majority, however, are not powerful and focused enough for offender management.

I have found that carrying a more powerful secondary tactical flashlight on your belt can make the difference between being safe and being injured and possibly killed.

When dealing with offenders the golden rule is “Distance = Safety.” A good tactical flashlight can distort an offender’s vision and distract them just long enough for you to safely withdraw a few feet to create a safe buffer. It can also help you disorient an offender long enough to make your job of taking him into custody easier.

The bright, focused beam of a tactical flashlight can also temporarily blind your offender...and if he can’t see you, chances are he can’t hurt you. A second of blindness can make all the difference.
