LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Services for the Lakewood police officer who was mistakenly killed by a fellow officer last week have been arranged for Thursday morning.

The funeral for James Davies, 35, will be at 10 a.m. at Denver First Church of the Nazarene, according to the Denver Post.

A six-and-a-half year veteran of the force, Davies was shot by Officer Devaney Braley Friday morning while they were responding to a home where there were reports of shots fired.

Braley mistook Davies for an armed assailant when he shot him over a six-foot privacy fence.

Davies’ partner and best friend Timothy Jacobson described Davies as a loyal friend with a great sense of humor.

He said Davies was the kind of guy who didn’t take life too seriously, despite the serious nature of their line of work, according to 9 News.

“It goes to show his heart and desire to be a man of service. He loved doing it, he had such a passion for it,” Jacobson said.
