If you wear an external-type protective vest over your uniform, make sure you are careful when carrying items in the pockets. One of our deputies was injured in a scuffle with a suspect when the radio he was carrying in one of the pockets jammed him in the ribs after they hit the ground. The suspect was detained, but the deputy had to take a couple of days sick leave.
