Kansas City, Kan. — Police are investigating an incident this morning that included an exchange of gunfire between two cars and subsequent shots fired at an officer.
The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. morning at 8th Street and Minnesota Avenue. An officer on routine patrol heard gunshots and witnessed the occupants of two vehicles shooting at each other outside a McDonald’s restaurant, police said.
After seeing the uniformed officer the occupants of the two cars then began shooting at him. The officer returned fired and then pursued the vehicles as they sped away, according to police.
The officer, an 8-year-veteran of the department, was not injured. It is not known if the officer’s bullets hit any of the suspects. Anyone with information can call 913-573-6020 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
