MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — An off-duty Minneapolis police officer shot an armed man after a confrontation in north Minneapolis early this morning, according to reports.
A police spokesman says just after midnight, the officer - who was in uniform - confronted a male who had just fired several rounds at an occupied van in north Minneapolis.
The officer ordered the gunman to drop his handgun - and when he refused, the officer shot him.
The suspect was taken to North Memorial Medical Center. There was no word on his condition.
The officer has been put on a paid three-day leave, routine after such incidents.
