NEW YORK - Police shot and wounded one man after he fired at Bronx anti-crime officers who were chasing him early yesterday in the Claremont Park section, authorities said.

Authorities were seeking another man who fled on foot.

Charges against Ron Tribble, 21, were pending last night, police said.

Police said officers spotted Tribble and another man with a handgun near 173rd Street and Anthony Avenue at 3:53 a.m. As the cops approached, the men ran in different directions, investigators said.

Tribble ran south along Anthony Avenue and was seen cocking a handgun, causing a shell to eject, before he fired one time at the officers, according to a police spokesman.

The officers fired a total of three times, and Tribble was shot in a shoulder, police said. He ran into a nearby yard and was arrested after a search by Emergency Service Unit cops, according to police.

Police recovered a Sig Sauer 9-mm pistol at the scene. One spent shell casing and one live round also were found on the ground, and the gun held another eight rounds.

Tribble was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated and released into police custody, the spokesman said.

None of the officers was hurt.
