Robber tells man he shot Fla. cop

Police using DNA evidence to connect shooting, robbery

SANFORD, Fla. — A home invasion in Seminole County could be the work of a man who shot a police officer, according to a man who was robbed Saturday morning.

An 89-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint inside his Sanford home. He told WESH 2 News that the gunman who entered his home on Knox Avenue early Saturday claimed he was the one who shot Sanford police Officer Brandon Worrall Thursday night.

According to Willie Metz, the man got away with about $200 in cash. He said he may have taken other items, but Metz wasn’t sure. He said one thing he is sure of is that the man threatened his life, which he said was worth a lot more than the money in his pocket.
