PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — An officer was dispatched to a neighborhood after 911 received an odd call.

A homeowner called 911 to report an “ostrich” in his front yard Wednesday, WXIA reported.

“Um, it’s not being aggressive,” the man told 911. “It just looks like it’s lost.”

The man said he had already called animal control and the Department of Natural Resources, but they didn’t have the resources to detain the animal. They said to call 911.

The man asked for it to be removed because the “kids will be getting home shortly.”

Deputy Jaime Winkles responded, but the emu fled, leading the officer on a short pursuit. Winkles eventually caught up with the animal and returned it to its home where it escaped earlier.
