CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Newly-released surveillance video shows a teen girl speed down a mountain highway in a stolen patrol car.
The incident began after Shelby Figueroa, 18, was pulled over at the weekend for driving too slowly on I-70 in Clear Creek County, according to KDVR. Just as an officer stopped his SUV, Figueroa backed into it.
Clear Creek County Sheriff Don Krueger said deputies arrested Figueroa, who was acting in a combative manner, and placed her in the back of the police SUV, where she escaped handcuffs.
She then “got into the driver’s seat and took off,” Krueger said.
After a pursuit at speeds of up to 100 mph, a Colorado State trooper rammed the stolen vehicle off the road, The Coloradoan reported.
Figueroa will appear in court in October on seven charges, including attempted vehicular assault on a peace officer and aggravated motor vehicle theft.
